FAQs

What equipment do I need to analyze myswing?

Greenside AI runs on all modern iOS devices, so all you need is either an iPhone or iPad to get your swing analysis. A tripod can be helpful in integrating the app as part of your practice routine, but if you don't have one on hand, you can always ask a friend to take a quick recording of your swing.

What's the ideal camera angle to film at?

Greenside AI is designed to be resilient and work in a variety of camera angles and environments. For best results, the iPhone/iPad should be setup 6-8 feet directly behind the golfer, so that the camera is facing the target (known as down-the-line). On a tripod, the phone should be inline with the golfer's hands at setup; when a second person is filming the golfer, the camera can be held naturally at chest height.

Is there an Android version?

While Greenside AI has been initially developed exclusively for iOS, we would like to develop an Android version in the future and will make an announcement when that comes to fruition. For Android users, we recommend using an iPad or going to a golf instructor or facility that uses Greenside AI technology.

What is the analysis based on?

We've curated a dataset of over 500,000 golf images that we've used to train our proprietary swing analysis system. It compares your swing to the best golfers in the world, and determines if each of your swing characteristics is reasonably similar to how the best play. If not, we recommend improvements & drills to engrain new behaviors. At Greenside, we understand that every golfer is different and acknowledge that you don't have to score a perfect 10/10 in our app to play great golf. That said, it can help golfers of all abilities better understand their swing, and for those with common swing deficiencies, we can help you develop a consistent, powerful, athletic golf swing that you can rely on.
